Living Room Tour

I have some work to do in this room, well every room really, but for now let's take a look at my Living Room.  First let me say, I need curtains.  I know it will completely change the look and feel of this room.  I just don't know what I want, however, after looking at these pictures, I'm starting to get an idea of what I may like.

Second thing is, I need more "stuff" in this room.  The walls are a little bare and I'm currently shopping for a big piece, again, I don't know what I want yet.

So, on with the tour!!

This is the view walking up from the Kitchen/Dining area.

From the doorway.  We have 4 windows in this room as well the window on the front door.

This is a long narrow room and on this end we have the TV.

I bought this cabinet at a Consignment store, when we moved here, specifically to put the TV on.

I painted it and the handles

A few winter decorations

Looking toward the other end of the room.

On the opposite end of the room, from the TV, is my home office.  My own little space!
Tucked behind the Love Seat in the corner

The view from my desk, I can watch American Idol and browse Pinterest at the same time.

I love the sliding pocket door, it adds such a coziness to the room.

Here are a few close up shots of things around the room.

Valentine hearts

Scrapbook paper covered letters

Weeping cherry tree outside the window.

Pink, Red, and White M & M's for Valentines as must!

Chili Recipe

I have spent many years making Chili.  I have tried numerous recipes and never really liked any of them, however the family loves Chili so I continued to search for a recipe the I like.

While visiting family over Christmas vacation my Mom made Chili, and it was OH SO GOOD!  I asked her for the recipe and she just laughed, she didn't really have a recipe.  I told her to tell me what's in it and I'll take care of the rest.

I love this Chili, and so does my family.  So well in fact, that they ask for it about once a week.  Here is how I make it.

Ingredients:

2 lbs. ground meat
1 pkg. chili seasoning
3 cans Chili Beans
1 7 oz. can Green Chilies
2 cans Ro-Tel
32 oz.  Beef Broth

Brown meat in pan and drain excess grease.  Add chili seasoning and stir.  Add the next 4 ingredients and simmer for 1 hour.

This is so easy and so good!!

How do I like my Chili?  I like to put Frito's in my bowl then add the Chili, and top that with shredded cheese.  Then enjoy!

You can adjust any of the ingredients to your liking.  More beans?  Less beans?  Another can of Ro-Tel?  Less Broth?

Let me know what you think.

Making Pom Poms with a Kit

Pom Poms have been all over blogland for a while now and I have thought of several ways I could use them,  but that would require figuring out how to make them and then getting the supplies and then creating them.

On a recent trip to TJ Maxx, my daughter  spied a little package tucked back behind some picture frames.  Upon investigating, she discovered a kit to make pom poms.  How cute they were!  for $3.99 we could have 8 of them.  We are in the process of adding to her rooms decor and she thought these would be the perfect addition.  I agreed!

These are made by Martha Stewart

The instructions were easy to read and within minutes we had two completed.

After a little "fluffing" they looked like this.

The best part about this was seeing how these are put together.  Now we plan to buy different color tissue paper and make more to coordinate.  I love the scallop edges, but we also plan to point the edges for a different look.

Sometime the simplest things can add the biggest impact.

Check back later to see these in action when I reveal the the whole room makeover.
